Formalities
Any preparation for a trip, within France as abroad, requires specific organisation. Air Corsica would like to offer you some tips to help you navigate the different steps to be taken and to better prepare you for your trip.
What documents must I present to board a plane?
Before the flight’s departure, each passenger must ensure that they have valid travel documents which comply with Air Corsica’s provisions, Immigration Services and the destination countries’ authorities.
We recommend that you check the entry and travel requirements for your destination country/countries by contacting the proper embassies or consulates. All passengers must travel with valid travel documents including babies and minors.
The only travel documents permitted by Air Corsica are:
- A valid National Identity Card issued by an EU government or party to the Schengen Agreement. The said countries are : Germany, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, Spain, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Romania, Slovenia, Sweden and Switzerland.
- A driving licence but only for flights within metropolitan France.
- A passport is required for all travel outside the European Economic Area (EEA) which must be valid for the duration of the intended stay.
- A visa if applicable.
It is each passenger’s responsibility to check the validity date of their travel documents and to renew them if necessary (please note that this may take a long time ). Otherwise, the passenger will have to pay any fine, penalty or expenses resulting from the non-compliance with this requirement which would be imposed on Air Corsica by the authorities.
Temporary documents issued for a National Identity Card or Passport are not allowed. This is because these documents do not include a photograph.
Information : since January 2014, the French National Identity Card is now valid for 15 years, instead of 10 years. Cards issued before this date have an extension of 5 years after their initial validity period. Nevertheless, some countries (including Belgium) do not recognise this new provision. Also, we strongly recommend that you travel with a valid passport, to facilitate the entry and stay requirements of your destination country.
Warning: some countries require a passport that is valid for several months after the return date. Moreover, a ticket for a return journey or onward travel may also be required.
Please also note that some countries require that airlines provide some or all of the information they have concerning their passengers. The required information appears in the passport’s encoded fields.
For more information, please visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development’s website.
In addition, whatever the journey, and due to reinforced security measures at airports, the authorities request that passengers must present their valid travel documents at the check-in desks if they deposit luggage in the hold and at the boarding gate for documentary reconciliation purposes.
