Dole Tourism
Located in the heart of Jura, Dole enjoys an intense historic past which is all that is needed to be charmed. You will enjoy visiting this authentically attractive city.
The main town in Jura and Franche-Comté, Dole, has an incredibly rich historic heritage. Every street corner brings an intense memory to mind, and all the sounds evoke a history that unfolds while walking. Called the “City of Art and History”, the city has witnessed the birth of important personalities such as Louis Pasteur. It has everything necessary to render the city vibrant, with a wealth of incredible glamour on the splendid buildings.
Surprises are guaranteed when you visit Dole as a tourist, both in things to see and do. Stroll along the waterside and around the outskirts of the mysterious Forêt de Chaux, explore the magnificent collegial, walk along the Doubs or even the Canal des Tanneurs, climb the heights of Vieux Dole and why not explore the Hôtel Dieu and the city’s gothic basilica. The programme promises to be packed in the city often called the “small Jurassic Venice”! One of the best ways of exploring it is to hire a bicycle and cycle along the EuroVelo route connecting Nantes to Budapest. You can, of course, try a leisurely boat trip from the river harbour.
While on site, make the most of it by exploring the Fontaine aux Lépreux, the house where Louis Pasteur was born, the Fine Arts Museum, or the covered market and the Cours Saint Maurice.
