The Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilization -MuCEM

As the first large national museum dedicated to the Mediterranean civilizations of the 21st century, it opened its doors in Marseille in June 2013 - and it aims to trace the foundations of this fertile cradle of civilization. A government project carried out by the Ministry of Culture and Communication - it is one of the most visited museums in Marseille.

Located at the entrance of the harbor, (on the j4 port and) in Fort Saint-Jean, magnificent and symbolic places of the current development of the city and its seniority - the museum covers nearly 45,000 square s and over three sites. Indeed the museum's various collections are preserved at both, the ‘Belle de Mai’ and the ‘Centre de Conservation et de Ressources’.
