The GR20
Hiking on the GR20 in Corsica! Summer and winter alike, Air Corsica's direct flights will take you to Corsica. From any of the four airports on the island, mountain hiking lovers will be able to reach the mythical GR20 : one of the most difficult paths of the Grande Randonnée in Europe !
The GR20 path crosses the island diagonally from north to south over 200 kilometres between Calenzana in the north and Conca in the south, in the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional de Corse (Regional Natural Park of Corsica).
The GR20 is famous as being one of the most beautiful and arduous Grand Randonnée paths in Europe. For an average hiker, to manage it entirely at the rate of one stage per day, it will be necessary to factor in 16 days of effort, at a rate of seven hours of walking per day on a cumulative ascent of around 13, 000 metres !
In some places, certain passages are very technical and steep (especially in the north). To the south, the terrain is less difficult and the path less rugged.
To complete this hike in the heart of the Corsican summits, you must be well equipped and have carefully prepared your itinerary, step by step, and, particularly in the summer, consider booking the mountain huts.
This mountain hike necessitates very good physical condition and respect for the rules of prevention and security instructions. It is advisable to be accompanied by a professional !
Finally, for the less experienced, there are other hiking alternatives with paths which cross over and adjoin the GR depending on the various routes : the trails of the “ Mare e Monti” (Sea and Mountains) (north, south) and the " Mare a Mare” (Sea to Sea) (north, centre, south) are also sport routes but without any particular difficulties.
The GR20 , this is the best way to discover Corsica in its beauty and hardship in the heart of wild and unspoiled nature !
